Macquarie Links International Golf Club 2020 Handiskins Championship
It was another terrific final at Macquarie Links International Golf Club today as they contested the club's sixth annual Handiskins Championship final. All four were first time finalists, and three of these golfers had never played Handiskins until 2020 - so it was an opportunity for the gents to make a name for themselves and go down in club history and there share of the $1200 prize pool.
After Jonathan Espejo picked up a handy jackpot on the second hole, it was Buddy Zabat, who threw down the gauntlet to win the next three straight and be the man to chase. Kane McDonald drew blood on the sixth and after the seventh was tied, you would be forgiven for thinking it might not have been Nobby Yamagata's day.
Yet Yamagata dug deep, and peeled off an impressive streak, winning 6 of the remaining 10 holes including 3 Jackpot holes, highlighted by a number of putts from just off the green, cementing his run to the 2020 Macquarie Links crown.
Yamagata finished the day with a handy $655, Zabat scored $275, McDonald won $175 and Espejo rounded out the money with $95. All players enjoyed the day and will be signing on again in 2021.
Well done guys, we hope to see you at the Handiskins National Championship at RACV Royal Pines in 2021 on the Gold Coast.
All four finalists received a Bridgestone Golf Cap and fought it out for their share in $1200 of Club Vouchers.
National Championships Qualifications 2021
All four finalists have now also qualified for the national championship and are extended an invitation to contest Australasia's best Amateur golf championship at the 2021 Handiskins National Championship at RACV Royal Pines Resort next May. Given the great spirit contesting today we are sure all four finalists would be able to claim the silverware and be crowned Handiskins National Champion. The 2021 event will be held from Wednesday 28th April – Sunday 2nd May 2021.

Time for Min Kim to work on their short game?
Min Kim will be in a position to clean up at the Handiskins National Championships Week. After taking out the the nearest the pin challenge in the first round of qualifying, don't be surprised if you see Min Kim also spending more time around the Macquarie Links chipping greens in the coming months. Not only will Min Kim be able to contest the Peter Lehmann Wines Golf Challenge, but also the opportunity to contest the Yamaha Chipping competition at the 2021 Handiskins Championship Week. The winner will return to their club as the owner of a brand new Yamaha Golf Cart.
