Blackwood Golf Club 2020 Handiskins Championship
Unusual Summer weather met our four finalists at Blackwood Golf Club today, as an unseasonal winter blast of cold air blustered its way across the fairways, testing the limits of our Handiskins Club Championship finalists. The best part though - the sizeable gallery that came along to witness the day despite the cold conditions.
It was a great diversity of golfers too, which put the Handiskins Handicapping system to the test with Scratch Marker Nick Wake, up against last years finalist and 2-handicapper Gavin Britten, 10-handicapper James Miller and 20-handicapper Helen Aylett giving a good mix of experience for the day's golf.
And it was such an evenly matched final with all golfers having their chances and forcing jackpots across the day. It really could have gone to anyone, but in the end the cool nerves of Nick Wake held strong. Nick only managed to win two holes outright, but they were done in style - draining downhill putts on both the 9th and 16th holes. Both were big money jackpot holes, and eventually they proved to be the difference as Nick walked away with the title collecting a cool $430. James Miller was unlucky in second, having claimed 7 skins in the first 10 holes, but was still able to finish the day with a tidy $390. Helen Aylett collected $270, and Gavin Britten claimed $110 to round out a well-shared purse.
Well done guys, we hope to see you at the Handiskins National Championship at RACV Royal Pines in 2021 on the Gold Coast.
All four finalists received a Bridgestone Golf Cap and fought it out for their share in $1200 of Club Vouchers.
National Championships Qualifications 2021
All four finalists have now also qualified for the national championship and are extended an invitation to contest Australasia's best Amateur golf championship at the 2021 Handiskins National Championship at RACV Royal Pines Resort next May. Given the great spirit contesting today we are sure all four finalists would be able to claim the silverware and be crowned Handiskins National Champion. The 2021 event will be held from Wednesday 28th April – Sunday 2nd May 2021.

After taking out the the nearest the pin challenge in the first round of qualifying, don't be surprised if you see Keith Parry-Jones also spending more time around the Blackwood Golf Club chipping greens in the coming months. Not only could Keith Parry-Jones be contesting the Peter Lehmann Wines Golf Challenge on the Gold Coast, but also the Yamaha Chipping competition at the 2021 Handiskins Championship Week.
