Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club 2020 Handiskins Championship
We have seen several hundred finals over the years at Handiskins clubs across the country, but we can honestly say this one was special.
Handiskins Founder and Director Paul Edwards was on the scene officiating the 2020 Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club championship final today and her explained to us how the day went:
Today we had A 14 year old junior named Mailey Iwatani who currently plays off a handicap of 12, and I tell you, she is one to watch over the next few years. The genes are good in this family, Mailey's father plays off scratch, and one of her sisters is just starting her career on the ladies PGA tour. Further to this Mailey's other sister has just won the club championship at Twin Creeks, so its no surprise that she has a focus like few other players of her youth.
I asked Mailey half way through the Handiskins Final what was her goals with regards to her golf. Miley replied "I want to be the best".
I clarified: "Here at the club... Twin Creeks?"
Mailey replied "In the world... I want to be number 1".
The club told me she practices every day and it is in her blood. Well from what I seen during the final we should all keep an eye out for Mailey Iwatani in the years to come, as she means business!
Mailey finished the day as the highest money winner with $460 from Troy Green $300 closely followed by Evan Lee and Kate Liddell. As for the other finalists they were amazing with their support of each other and their support and professionalism for Miley.
Well done everyone, we hope to see you at the Handiskins National Championship at RACV Royal Pines in 2021 on the Gold Coast.
All four finalists received a Bridgestone Golf Cap and fought it out for their share in $1200 of Club Vouchers.
National Championships Qualifications 2021
All four finalists have now also qualified for the national championship and are extended an invitation to contest Australasia's best Amateur golf championship at the 2021 Handiskins National Championship at RACV Royal Pines Resort next May. Given the great spirit contesting today we are sure all four finalists would be able to claim the silverware and be crowned Handiskins National Champion. The 2021 event will be held from Wednesday 28th April – Sunday 2nd May 2021.

Time for Sung Kim to work on their short game?
Sung Kim will be in a position to clean up at the Handiskins National Championships Week. After taking out the the nearest the pin challenge in the first round of qualifying, don't be surprised if you see Sung Kim also spending more time around the Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club chipping greens in the coming months. Sung Kim could be contesting both the Peter Lehmann Wines Golf Challenge on the Gold Coast, as well as having the opportunity to contest the Yamaha Chipping competition at the 2021 Handiskins Championship Week.
