The Handiskins National Championship
Everyone dreams of being a National Champion and at this years Handiskins National Championship final, the dream came true for Grant Baker from Glenelg Golf Club. It came down to the last putt on the 18th hole before Grant knew he was the winner. Our 4 finalists were Danny Van Zyl (Lynwood Country Club), Eliot Walter (Wolston Park Golf Club), John Jenson (Cowra Golf Club), and Grant Baker (Glenelg Golf Club).
Grant won:
- The Handiskins National Championship title and trophy,
- 6 bottles of Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz (valued at $100 per bottle), plus 6 bottles to his club at Glenelg,
- $200 Sushi Hub Voucher.
The Jarrod Lyle Memorial Trophy ProHandiskins
This event is strong within the golfing industry but even stronger for the club professionals. Jarrod was a much-loved golfer and larger than life human being. The $10,000 ProHandiskins Final also went down to the final hole with Jamie Hook (Pacific Dunes Golf Club) just holding off Gavin Vearing (Wodonga Golf Club) for the win. Tom Perfect (Cowra Golf Club) and Matt McLean (Burleigh Golf Club) were also in the fight at multiple times during the final. We were so happy to have Challenge CEO David Rogers there this year to present the Jarrod Lyle Memorial Trophy to the winner, Jamie Hook.
The Peter Lehmann Wines Golf Challenge
The Peter Lehmann Wines Golf Challenge is all about premium wine and golf. All prizes won are top quality Peter Lehmann Wines. Anyone with a golf link handicap can play in this event – it is not just for Handiskins players and it is a lot of fun. There are 2 qualifying rounds of stableford competition with the top 4 players going onto day 3 to play in a wine skins final. The top 4 players were Trish White (Blackwood Golf Club), Wayne Williamson (Ryde Parramatta Golf Club), Frank Byrne (Wolston Park Golf Club) and David Roberts (Bribie Island Golf Club). Thousands of dollars of Peter Lehmann Wines were won (and eventually enjoyed no doubt) over the 5 days at Royal Pines.
