Glenelg Golf Club 2020 Handiskins Championship
With 90 players contesting the Handiskins qualifying rounds at Glenelg Golf Club this year, the four finalist must have felt like winners before they even started as they began their quest for the coveted 2020 Saturday Crown.
And what a great final it was. After all golfers felt there way throughthe opening holes, it was on the money-holes on the back nine that things became very tight. Six of the final seven holes were squared up to be jackpots, and each player was desperate to break the deadlock to sink the putt that gave them glory. In the end the 18th hole was squared, along with two of the NTP's so all four four players received a deserved split of the jackpot.
When the scores were settled it was Steven Gentle who took the Skins that mattered and his winning prize money of $450 was enough to take home the crown, edging Peter Farmer ($430), Glenn Sterrey ($210), and Michael Gage ($110).
Well done guys, we hope to see you at the Handiskins National Championship at RACV Royal Pines in 2021 on the Gold Coast.
All four finalists received a Bridgestone Golf Cap and fought it out for their share in $1200 of Club Vouchers.
The success of this year's Handiskins competition at Glenelg Golf Club has seen the club get behind a second comp in 2020 dedicated to midweek players, who were desperate to try their hand at Handiskins too. To date the Wednesday comp has already attracted a field of 46 players - with a $1200 Final now guaranteed.
National Championships Qualifications 2021
All four finalists have now also qualified for the national championship and are extended an invitation to contest Australasia's best Amateur golf championship at the 2021 Handiskins National Championship at RACV Royal Pines Resort next May.
