Highlights of the April 2024 Comps
Only 7 shots separated our 4 finalists at McLeod Country Golf Club, but John Gorry still managed to have a big day out winning $695 to be the man on top of the podium at the end of a terrific skins match.
But the real story of the month came from ana unlikely victor at Balgowlah Golf Club. As one of the finalists had to pull out due to other commitments, Xu Kha got a luck call up and made every post a winner, taking the championship with $300 on the last 2 holes to finish with a handy $500 worth of club vouchers. I bet he was glad he took that phone call! Well done Xu - a true underdog story.

April 7, 2024 - Balgowlah Golf Club ($1,200):
- Winner: Xu Kha ($500)
- Other finalists: Ron Asser ($440), Tm McIntyre ($160), Rory Lang ($100)
Well done everyone. We hope to see you at the Handiskins National Championship at Palm Meadows & Lakelands Golf Courses in 2025 on the Gold Coast. All four finalists from each club received a Bridgestone Golf Cap and their winnings above in Club Vouchers.
National Championships Qualifications 2025
All four finalists have now also qualified for the national championship and are extended an invitation to contest Australia's best Amateur golf championship at the 2024 Handiskins National Championship held across both Palm Meadows Golf Course & Lakelands Golf Club next May. Given the great spirit shown in this months club finals, we are sure all four finalists would be in with a chance to claim the silverware and be crowned Handiskins National Champion. The 2025 event will be held from Wednesday 7th May – Sunday 11th May 2025.
Non-qualifiers can still join the fun of the National Championships
For those who weren't lucky enough to qualify for the National Championships but want to join these finalists and other club-mates on the Gold Coast each year, take a look at the amazing packages that we have available for the Peter Lehmann Wines Golf Challenge - A social Stableford championship for those wishing to join the fun of Handiskins National Championship Week. Don't forget the Yamaha Chipping Competition!
Don't forget that three players from each participating club also have the chance to clean up at the Handiskins National Championships Week. After taking out the the nearest the pin challenge in the first, third and fifth rounds of qualifying, don't be surprised if you see these qualifiers spending an extended amount of time around the club chipping greens in the coming months. All three players who took out the nearest the pin have scored an invitation to contest the Yamaha Chipping competition at the 2025 Handiskins Championship Week. The winner will return to their club as the owner of a brand new Yamaha Golf Cart - just like our lucky 2024 winner Tom O'Rourke from Kiama Golf Club (watch below).
