Rockingham Golf Club 2021 Handiskins Championship
Sixty-nine of Rockingham Golf Club's finest and most respected members* teed off in Handiskins qualifying rounds this year, with only the very best making it through to todays skins final. Just getting here was victory enough, but the greatest prize of all awaited our 4 finalists - and the competition was fierce.
With 11 of the 18 holes drawn, it was clear that this was anyones contest. Owen Turner was all smiles after picking up a $200 jackpot on the 5th hole and then another $180 on the 10th. But in Handiskins, its the money on the back-nine that doubles, and as the stakes raise so too do the Jackpots. This is where Dennis Amundsen pounced with a massive $320 jackpot on the 16th which was enough to see him home.
In the end the only thing that separated Amundsen and Turner was Denis' $60 Nearest-the-pin win on the 12th hole. Amundsen finished the day the victor with $460, followed by Owen Turner on $400, Gerard Ballantyne on $180, and there was still plenty of cash left for fourth place Dean Woodley on $160. A terrific final and its clear to see that the Handiskins rivalry will thrive again next year.
Well done guys, we hope to see you at the Handiskins National Championship at RACV Royal Pines in 2022 on the Gold Coast.
All four finalists received a Bridgestone Golf Cap and fought it out for their share in $1200 of Club Vouchers.
National Championships Qualifications 2022
All four finalists have now also qualified for the national championship and are extended an invitation to contest Australasia's best Amateur golf championship at the 2022 Handiskins National Championship at RACV Royal Pines Resort next May. Given the great spirit contesting today we are sure all four finalists would be able to claim the silverware and be crowned Handiskins National Champion. The 2022 event will be held from Wednesday 4th – Sunday 8th May 2022.
Non-qualifiers can still join the fun of the National Championships
For those who weren't lucky enough to qualify for the National Championships but want to join these finalists and other club-mates on the Gold Coast each year, take a look at the amazing packages that we have available for the Peter Lehmann Wines Golf Challenge - A social Stableford championship for those wishing to join the fun of Handiskins National Championship Week. Player Packages and non-playing partner packages are now open. Find out More about the Peter Lehmann Wines Golf Challenge here.
Roric Coleman - It's time to work on your short game!
Roric Coleman will be in a position to clean up at the Handiskins National Championships Week. After taking out the the nearest the pin challenge in the first round of qualifying, don't be surprised if you see Roric Coleman also spending more time around the Rockingham Golf Club chipping greens in the coming months. Not only could Roric Coleman be contesting the Peter Lehmann Wines Golf Challenge on the Gold Coast, but also the Yamaha Chipping competition at the 2022 Handiskins Championship Week. The winner will return to their club as the owner of a brand new Yamaha Golf Cart.
See you again in 2022
Thanks Rockingham Golf Club for a terrific tournament in 2021 - we can't wait to see you all again in 2022
