In an exciting turn of events, Mick Prince, a 15-handicap golfer from Headland Golf Club in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast, claimed victory at the Handiskins National Final held at Palm Meadows Golf Club. Prince secured his spot in the final after carding an impressive 65 in the qualifying rounds.
The final four featured a diverse group of golfers, including +1 marker Peter Kirwan from Cowra Golf Club, 18-handicap Dennis Ashton from Nambucca Heads Golf Club, and 4-marker Graham Fairweather from McLeod Country Club. The final was played in a skins format as it does in every Handiskins Club across Australia, with increasing prize money for each hole and additional bonuses for selected nearest-the-pin's.
Prince attributed his success to his solid driving, accurate iron play, and timely approach shots. Despite a few missed putts, he managed to secure eight skins and a nearest-the-pin award, earning him a total of $500.
Congratulations Mick - you are a worthy Handiskins National Champion
